Recommended music players

Hi. I'm trying to decide what music player to buy. Looks like there are plenty out there I can just mount and use like a drive, but my main concern regards playlists. By playlist I mean ones that are playable by the player. What player do I choose if I want to make it easy and seamless to create playlists for it?

I don't care what program I have to use to make said playlists, I just want to avoid having to run them through a set of external scripts and moving them to the player before they're useful. I'd love to hear what other Kubuntu folks are using. Thanks!

Amarok is a glorious package. And it's totally non-functional on my pile of audacity-captured vinyl and 78-rpm recorded music.

I use alsaplayer.
