LTF K9.10 Power Management Documentation

I installed K9.10 64 bit last weekend after a long absence from KDE. The installation and post-installation configuration has gone well except for some power management issues. Specifically, for some reason (setting?), my bios initiated hibernation is being by-passed in Kubuntu 9.10 64 bit. As a point of reference, this feature works well in Win7 64 Pro, Mint 6 Gnome 64, Mint 7 64 Gnome. The PC is a newly built desktop running fully compliant 64 bit hardware.

Would appreciate any pointers to reference documentation on the power management utilized in K9.10..
