    Configuring HP Photosmart 7660

I'm trying to set up my printer on 9.10. I tried it using KPrinter, and that failed miserably. I then tried using HPLIP (from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html). This, at least, found a driver for my printer, and the test page printed successfully, but I can't print anything else. I submit a job, and after a time HPLIP says that it is completed, but meanwhile my printer has done nothing.

    What should I do?

Also, how do I remove the printer from the KPrinter list? There are 2 showing now; one from the failed KPrinter attempt and one from the HPLIP attempt.

    Thanks!

    Two suggestions.

First reboot with the printer attached.

If that does not work, try installing the printer using the CUPS interface at http://localhost:631

Rebooting didn't work. I tried the CUPS interface, but it didn't have a driver listed for my printer. I tried using the ppd file provided by HPLIP instead.

Now, when I try to print anything, I get a page with the text:
      Code:
      %!PS-Adobe-3.0
                       %%Pages: (atend)
                                     %%BoundingBox: (atend)
                                                         %%HiResBoundingBox: (atend)
                                                                                  %
and then a bunch of blank pages are run through the printer.

Should I be using a different driver? I tried the Postscript driver (which has worked for me on previous Kubuntu versions) when I used kprinter, but that had the same result as what I wrote above...

        Try the procedure here.

Thanks. I'd tried the HPLIP page already (that was the most recent thing I did before trying your other suggestions). In that case, the printer (ostensibly) installed correctly, and I could send documents to it, but nothing happened. Eventually the HPLIP status icon in the panel would inform me that the job had completed... when in fact the printer hadn't done anything.
