[half-Solved] Mimimal screen brightness on Asus (ATI) Laptop

Installed 9.10 Karmic Koala (from DVD) - everything looks fine. But screen eventually changes brightness and finally goes to minimal level.
I installed ATI drivers from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...8&lang=English - nothing changes. Help me please.

Its weird, but after second system reboot brightness doesnt float anymore. But I still cant adjust it with hardware buttons "Fn + ...". Does anybody have idea how to fix?

I had a similar problem with NVIDIA drivers and until a fix came to the drivers or kernel I made do by adjusting the screen brightness during the boot up and before X started.

Actually brightness still annoys me with flashing between the different screen back-light levels.

I guess this is ambient light sensor influence, and I dont know how to fix (to switch off or tune up)...

I found a way to walk-around the trouble:
          Code:
          cd /sys/devices/platform/asus_laptop
          echo XX > ls_level
          where XX:
          0 - annoying auto control
          1...15 - screen back-light level

But it looks like shaman dance with tambourine... may be there is another way?
