Re: Install
It installed with no problems via Kpackagekit on this machine. That is the only time i've used Kpackagekit.
You say
Maybe i'm misunderstanding this, but shouldn't you search for Synaptic in Kpackagekit, then tell it to install it?Originally posted by eaterjollywhen i clicked the download i clicked run with kpackage
You shouldn't 'run' it.

Re: Install
I had a similar problem when I first started using Kubuntu. I got problems with KPackageKit and could not install anything else (either with Synaptic or even Terminal) until I got it sorted.
I am an inexperienced user so I cannot advise you how to sort out your KPackageKit troubles. The thread outlining my similar problem is here.

Good luck.

Re: Install
I had the same problem immediately after fresh install and the solution was to do all necessary updates before installing synaptic clicking on a green gear wheel icon in the system tray. When the icon disappears it is the time to install synaptic.Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13
