OK, that it's the spot. I now have flash working, but do I have to execute the command
/usr/bin/chromium-browser --enable-plugins all the time?

Or can it be automatic?

No, modify your menu entry to reflect the proper command.

No when you open the menu item to edit it, in the properties is a field named "Command". It should read /usr/bin/chromium-browser --enable-plugins %U

I have flash working fine. What other plugins can I get working? And how? What about Java?

I am really ready to dump Firefox ASAP.

Don't dump Firefox yet. Flash is the only plugin I can get working. As I have time, I will research how to make this thing usable and post back.

That don't work...

You need to right click on the menu icon in the panel and select Menu Editor, then go to Internet, click on the + and right click on Chrome.

Already changed the menu, but it doesn't enable the plugin.

One other thing. Where you say /usr/bin/chromium-browser --enable-plugins &U, it should be ....%U, right?

I tryied both ways and no go.

It only works using the command on Terminal.

Please note that if you are trying to run by clicking favourites then you need to delete the current icon and reinstate from the Internet sub menu

Odd thing is, when I installed it on my Acer Aspire One, running the Ubuntu netbook remix, ALL, and I mean ALL plugins were installed. Flash, Java, quicktime, and many more. I don't know how I did it, but I sure would like it to be that way on my desktop.

I think that having alternative (fundamentally different) browsers is terrific, because if something is not working in one, you can try in the next one. Right now we have:

* Konqueror (khtml based; KDE libs)
* Arora (webkit based; Qt libs)
* Opera (in-house prop engine; Qt libs)
* Firefox (gecko based; Gtk libs)
* Chrome (webkit based; Gtk libs) [1]

The list order corresponds to how native they look in KDE, according to the GUI libraries they use. Qt is the basis for KDE, and gtk the basis for GNOME.

For everyday use, unless you have very slow connection or very slow hardware, it's hard to beat Firefox as a powerhorse, because they go one thing right: build a platform, not just a browser. People keep building cool extensions, and some of them are very useful. It also works fine with most pages. Khtml is the less robust engine, but Konqueror is the more universal browser (from man pages to remote systems via ssh, plus the web, filesystem, photo-camera, and what not). Webkit, based on khtml, is a lot better. Opera is great overall, and it has its cool Widgets, but it's closed source.

Just a guess, but is the laptop running 32 bit and the Desktop 64 bit?
