    configure warzone 2100

I extracted the file to home/tom/warzone2100-2.2.1 and configured in this folder (home/tom/warzone2100-2.2.1/configure). Then appear a notice like this:
    ...
    checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
    checking for pkg-config >= 0.9... found 0.22, ok
checking whether to build NSIS installer... no
checking whether to compile in debug mode... no
checking for SDL... configure: error: Package requirements (sdl >= 1.2) were not met:

    No package 'sdl' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables SDL_CFLAGS
and SDL_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
Tell me what I have to do next. Then how can I install

What you got were the source code for the game, and needs to be compiled. This means finding and installing a bunch of dev tools and extra libraries. The warzone2100 website does have compiling instructions. They are for Intrepid, but the directions should still be valid for Jaunty. But this may be a bit daunting

getdeb has a current set of packages, but do realize that getdeb packages are not official Ubuntu packages, so try them at your own risk -- usually they work pretty well

        Not really

Do you get any error messages ?
have you tried running it fro a Konsole window? This will usually give error messages.

My initial guess is that you have some missing libraries the game needs, but the deb file from getdeb does not call for them to be installed. This case here reminds me of why i don't usually use or recommend getdeb - but unfortunately the game version available in the standard repos is a bit older than the current version.

Also, have you tried looking on the game's website for information or a forum or wiki there to search?

If you don't mind installing from PPA, you can get it here
