Can anyone please tell me where I can find the plug-in for firefox to play the online music or any multimedia contents? I'm annoyed that it appears a notice telling there is no plug in to play the mp3 files when I go to the music websites, or other multimedia file types. I need an add-on likes the windows media player for firefox in the windows. Any suggestions?

Yes. Have a look at "RestrictedFormats" on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats . But BEWARE to installing things it talks about because you are using Kubuntu and it is about Ubuntu."A problem well stated is a problem half solved." --Charles F. Kettering

Re: audio streaming plug in for firefox?
Start by following #9 in the FAQs linked in my signature.
There is no "universal" plugin for all Internet audio streams -- users who need a particular stream, such as BBC's realplayer stream, usually need to research and "tweak" their setup to handle that one, using an external player such as VLC or mplayer. But if you install the multimedia stuff as indicated, you'll have at least an 80% solution.

Re: audio streaming plug in for firefox?
Oh men! No one understants what I am talking about, I don't need codec and don't need specific stream of some websites, I just want a player in a browser to play the music in the web, for example: I embedded a mp3 file in my blog, in Windows, when I visit my blog, firefox will use the Windows media player to play the file online, that means I can listen to it online. But in Kubuntu, firefox doesn't have the player to play the file above. The problem is that I want a player in the broser like WMP!!!Originally posted by diblStart by following #9 in the FAQs linked in my signature.

Can you give us a specific address, that we can go to, where the music is embedded. You mention the mp3 in your blog. Can you give the address of that?"A problem well stated is a problem half solved." --Charles F. Kettering

Re: audio streaming plug in for firefox?
Well, I booted into Windows. Don't do that very often.
(YAWN. My Crunchbang Linux goes from Boot Screen to usable in 30 seconds. Windows takes about 5 minutes...)
(Firefox crashed! -use IE!!!)
The Player shows up but no music plays.
Try BBC iPlayer. Yes that plays.
Have you tried out the Example? Does it work for you?"A problem well stated is a problem half solved." --Charles F. Kettering

Re: audio streaming plug in for firefox?
I went to the web site using firefox 3.5 and the link to the mp3 wouldn't open correctly.
I right click on the page went to view page source, media amd copy and pasted http://files.myopera.com/tomjohnson....he%20music.mp3
to an new window and it played.
I do not know why the link isn't opening properly.
Ps i Just tried again and by right clicking on the the "Example Box" and selecting play it opened with
mplayer plugin

I have no idea. But do you have any solution? I wonder how you listen to online music in linux using firefox or Opera, and can your browser have the player in it to play that file in my website?Originally posted by GilGibI went to the web site using firefox 3.5 and the link to the mp3 wouldn't open correctly.

Re: audio streaming plug in for firefox?
Same as GilGib here.
When the MP3 is uploaded is it in the same folder as the page (Which is correct)? Or a seperate folder(Which is not correct)?
I have listened to other MP3s, mostly from free players on web pages - e.g. http://www.premiumbeat.com/flash_res..._music_player/"A problem well stated is a problem half solved." --Charles F. Kettering
