    Synaptic acting up today

    After todays update to kde4.1.2 my synaptic is acting up when using "relaod" giving me this message:
    E: The package cache file is corrupted
    E: _cache->open() failed, please report.
    Any one else getting this?

    I have seen it at the first time with the Intrepid alpha, here is a bug report > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...it/+bug/257639.

    One of the suspects is the packagekit:

    I suspect that this is a race condition between synaptic read the package cache and packagekit. Packagekit gets a org.freedesktop.PackageKit.StateHasChanged "cache-update" signal when synaptic finishes its reload operation. This is a bug that seems to be caused by improper locking.

      Thank you. That would explain it.

      I guess I'll just wait and see how everything goes. Don't really need synaptic right now. I use apt-get to update/-grade anyway.

        I have experienced the same error message.

        Removed Synaptic from my computer for now.

        Command line will do for a while.

        And Adept is working better.
