    No more network

After todays update / upgrade and re3boot with:
    sudo reboot
    (desktop->rightclick leave->reboot does not work)

    network (cable) is deactivated.

Any idea how to get it running again?

    Did you try running
    Code:
    sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

      Re: No more network

A while back when upgrading knetwork manager /etc/iniit.d/networking restart stoped working. After some investigation the contents of my /etc/network/interfaces file has been totally hashed out.

              Thank you
I know this is alpha but I seem to be the only one with this issue and I have never had the network die with any alpha.

              ifconfig gives:
              fred2@fredws2:~$ ifconfig
              lo Link encap:Lokale Schleife

What happens if you run sudo ifup eth0

post ifconfig after running that and also dmesg|tail

Okay, I'll do that. Will have to boot into jaunty. will take a while.

Just as a reference this is my intrepid ifconfig:

Okay here goes but it doesn't look nice:
                      fred2@fredws2:~$ sudo ifup eth0
                      [sudo] password for fred2:

                      fred2@fredws2:~$
ifconfig give the same as above.

                      Now for the rest:

                      fred2@fredws2:~$ dmesg | tail

Could be drivers arent loaded at boot up. Find out what network card you have and which driver supports it. Then manually modprobe it.

Sry I cant be of more help

lspci - look for a line that says networking controller or something like that. What I would do is copy paste that line into google, usually you're not the only one having problems if it hardware related.

"dmesg|grep eth" could possibly show something if theres problems loading the driver.

                            dont worry, you're not.

Let's have a look at your /etc/network/interfaces file. If you have a standard network setup/configuration, it should contain only the following two lines:
                              auto lo
                              iface lo inet loopback
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007
