    WICD disconnects constantly

I've upgraded KDE 4.2 to 4.3 and my network manager wouldn't work. So I decided to install WICD. There was no problem with the installation. It recognizes the router with 100% connectivity. I connect to the WPA network and have internet for about 5 seconds, and the automaticaly it disconnects (and reconnects in a never ending cycle). It connects and says "connected to linksys in 0%". Can someone help me?

    Re: WICD disconnects constantly

#8 on the link in my signature has links to wireless troubleshooting instructions.

How are you setup -- using wpa_supplicant? If you want to post your /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf files, maybe we'll see something.

Also the stanza of output from
    Code:
    lspci -vv
would be nice to see your wireless chip, and
    Code:
    lsmod
to show the loaded driver modules.

        Re: WICD disconnects constantly

Just in case, I was able to connect with Kubuntu KDE 4.2 Network Manager. When I upgraded the network manager wouldn't work anymore so I installed WICD.

I'm having the same issue and it's related to the your Broadcom wireless card. There are issue with some of the bcm43xx architectures. Nothing I have tried so far has got it to work, including both the bcm43xx and STA drivers.

Hopefully things will get fixed in Karmic, but I have yet to try that.

I haven't had to fix a Broadcom problem -- is it one that can be fixed with ndiswrapper?

STA drivers worked just fine for me with KDE 4.2. The problem arised when I upgraded to 4.3

Haven't tried this yet. If I can't get wireless to work out of the box in Karmic then I will try ndiswrapper. But as of right now I am just using my wired connection.

Well, I reinstalled network-manager uninstalling wicd and everything went back to normal.
                  Thanks for the help anyway
