Internet Lag - Alternatives to network management ??

hi all pretty new to ~~Kubuntu and its workings

im using a desktop with vista and ubuntu installed and a dell studio laptop with kubuntu 9.04 running on virigin cable broadband 10mb - speedtests sjow good results

my wireless router is a Cisco/linkys wet160N

problem im getting is that it connects fine whos up in NM manager but after a while it grinds - click on icon and reset and its starts again for a while

any tips on how to cure this ?? is network management the best to use with Kubuntu ?? or is there an alternative i can install to gain better connectivity

any help very much appreciated or point me in the right direction would be great

A number of users have reported that wicd works better for them than knetworkmanager, although this is being fixed.

Note that nm and wicd are mutually exclusive, so installing one means uninstalling the other.

yeah ive installed wicd after a few issues and hours messing - to then see it takes 5 mins max to sort lol

wicd is slightly better but not great

i'll stick with it for a while see if it grows on me
