Weird Network Manager dependencies

Has anyone else noticed the package dependencies for Network Manager in KDE 4.3?

Bluetooth? Weather libraries? Have these always been dependencies and I just never noticed? If so, I'm glad I switched to WICD.

Is this in Jaunty or Karmic? In Jaunty, even if you installed KNetworkManager, it is disabled, with a legend saying that at this moment it is broken and under major changes, and it tells you to use kde4' network widget, which actually works quite well on my eeepc (and picked up the wifi credentials transparently, I was impressed)

Is this in Jaunty or Karmic? In Jaunty, even if you installed KNetworkManager, it is disabled, with a legend saying that at this moment it is broken and under major changes, and it tells you to use kde4' network widget, which actually works quite well on my eeepc (and picked up the wifi credentials transparently, I was impressed)

It's Jaunty and this is the plasma-widger-networkmanagment package. So, it's the one that works.

all this really sucks, coz mine doesn't work and i cannot get connected to any network. so how the f*** will i update this Knetworkmanager when i cannot connect effectively it ruined everything for me,coz i was even using Huawei 160 for mobile broadband (it worked) through betavine software, now even this is not able to connect me. is is switched on, it gives me 'Connected' but there's no traffic in nor out. is it something to do with firewall

Do you have an ethernet card to use and try to fix the network? Installing wicd would be a good idea in this situation ...

no, i don't. i guess i will have to find out somewhere to plug myself in.
can you help with mobile broadband thingy problem?it worked nicely.
another thing, i tried to connect wiressly to a free network (works flawlessly with Windows7), yet it wanted an encryption under Kubuntu....

(it costs less than a coffee, I am sure similar devices are available in any country)

Also, can you download wicd in another machine, just the deb, put it in a usb drive and install with dpkg? That might work ... hope this helps!

ok, i tried the trick with wicd. well it shows me 'connected', but something else must be going on, coz i cannot get online. could the firewall be blocking it?
