    Cannot use HTTP

Hi! I have a very strange problem in my Kubuntu 9.04 x64 - I have a WiFi connection to Internet, and using networkmanager + it's plasma applet. Sometimes (it happens often, really) I just can't open any www-page in my browser (firefox, konqueror, etc.), and all torrent downloads are stop. This is NOT a router bug - I can access all this stuff from my laptop w/ the Ubuntu 8.10 i386. And pings and tracerouts on my pc are showing correct results (even if http is not working).
This happens until I relog-in or restart network connection.

Please feel free to ask me any questions, I answer it immediatelly, thanks.

    p.s. Sorry for bad english.

    Re: Cannot use HTTP

this could be three things: hardware issue in this particular box, driver issue or (less likely) software issue. To rule the third one out, you may want to try wicd and see if the connection is still intermittent. If it still is, we'll go from there

      Re: Cannot use HTTP

Connection is stable - I can ping any host, ssh is work etc. Doesn't works just HTTP.
Before this distro I used Debian Lenny i386 on this box, and everything works fine...

        Re: Cannot use HTTP

This could be networkManager screwing some DNS server, proxy or some other configuration detail. Have you tried wicd?

No, I will, thanks. I thought that maybe it NS problem or something, but all hostnames resolving correct when I use any other net-program, than www-browser.

I'll try wicd on next error, thank you!

Heh. Problem solved cardinally - I installed Ubuntu I can't live in system with periodical freezing
            Anyway, thanks.

Awesome, I am glad it's gone. If you like KDE you can install the kubuntu-desktop metapackage ;-)
