    load a tarred home file

    Hi all,
would anyone tell me how to transfer a tarred home file on to a new installation of Kubuntu 9.10? I tried it a couple of time but it gets nested. I want it to expand into /home/denis. I made the tarred file by tarring the complete /denis home directory.
Is the correct procedure to make a subdirectory under home called 'denis'?
Should I then copy the tarred file to /home/denis and expand it there?
Probably sounds pretty elementary but I can't figure it out. Also, the clock on the top of this page is displaying the time 2 hours ahead, is there a fix for that?
    cheers,
    Denis

Click "Profile" in the upper right corner of this page, then "Look and Layout Preferences", then adjust "Time offset"
