No keyboard or mouse

When I plugged in my Kubuntu 9.0.4 hard disk tonight, the login screen booted up but neither the keyboard nor the mouse were functional.

A few days ago I allowed the system to attempt to update about 750 packages and some failed. I imagine that has something to do with this problem.

Suggestions? I did find my original Kubuntu CD (probably 8.0.4).

Can you reboot in Rescue Mode and try to repair things from there? Maybe the option to repair graphics, or the option to repair broken packages.

Thanks, Imilano... but I wasn't able to figure out the problem. I'm now in the process of reinstalling 9.0.4.
