What is the safest way to change monitor refresh rate

    Greetings!

I have a full hd TFT monitor and I installed the correct driver for my ati hd3650 so I can change the resolution to anything supported by my monitor but there is only 2 option to change refresh rate (auto and 60) so it offers me the lowest refresh rate, how can I change it ? ( I am a little bit afraid of editing xorg.conf, after I had edited it last time I got a nice blank screen :S )

Thanks for your time and attention,
    Jack Jagger

    I installed the correct driver
Maybe your problem has the solution, you expect, I don't know.
    I have only few notes:
    - correct linux drivers for some printers are not as good as windows drivers from manufacturers and do not handle some options, maybe this is the same case.
    - I would accept what the driver offers, it is the safest way
    - Be glad you have xUBUNTU, with some other distros you could have less sharp picture.
    - 60 Hz LCD is not so bad as 60 Hz CRT. It's the best value for most screens.
Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13
