I just installed Alpha 4, did all the updates, etc. etc. Almost everything is running very smoothly. It's a really nice alpha, this one.
One problem is that desktop effects are very very slow. Don't know why. I had to turn them off for the system to become usable. In fact, at times it would turn itself off automatically because it detected it was being too slow.
Any suggestions other than sit and wait? Anyone knows how to diagnose what the exact problem is (intel driver, xorg config, kde itself)?
Thanks,
Vítor Souza

I couldn't believe how fast it was, and when I checked the display settings I noticed that it was 1600X900 and glxgears reported 850 fps. So, I installed my video "canary" app, Stellarium, and ran it. ZOOOOOM! It displayed almost instantly.
