"Window Creation Error" when running the SL client

This is kind of scary. I haven't made any changes to my system for months - and suddenly the Secondlife client fails out with a pop-up about "Windows Creation Error".

I can't find anything useful on the net about this, other than instances where the video card and/or drivers aren't up to requirements (but remember, my system has been running this client for months).

I rebooted and let the 'recovery' mode have a crack at fixing broken packages, as well as running a file system check (and all was well).

    Help!

You have a hidden file under your home account called ".secondlife".

    Rename it to ".secondlife_old".

    Start your Sl client.

Your name AND password will have to be re-entered. If you don't remember your password you'll have to go to the SL webpage and get it reset.

If that doesn't help then perhaps you have autoupdate running in the background with showing a GUI?
