Dolphin cannot see an audio CD

Does anyone know why Dolphin does not show a CD, inserted in either a CD or DVD drive, whereas it does show DVDs? I also have Nautilus and this shows a CD without any problems.

are you using kde 4.x if so your cd should show up in the devices recently pluged in widget (by default its on the panel)

I am using KDE 4.2 and it doesn't show up in devices recently plugged in. My point though why does Nautilus show the CD contents whereas it is invisible to Dolphin.

Re: Dolphin cannot see a CD

ok so i checked a cd/dvd does not show up in Devices Recently Plugged in...
now when you say it does not show in dolphin do you mean in the "places" sidebar ?
if so check this dir /media and make sure you have a "cdrom" Link and a "cdrom0" Folder (assuming 1 drive could have more but 1 like per folder)
since its prolly there cause you can see cds with other file managers you have 2 options (that i know)
        1. manually browse the /media/cdrom0 folder to view contents in dolphin
for ease, create an entry for /media/cdrom0 in the "places"sidebar in dolphin.(right click in the "places" bar to do so),sadly if you do the icon will always show.

now you could always just try to reinstall dolphin
sudo apt-get purge dolphin (making sure all its config goes and your possible broken installer)
        sudo apt-get install dolphin

Isn't this a reference to the problem? I had exactly the same issue - it's very annoying but presumably it will get fixed soon.

Yes, that seems to be the same problem, audio CDs are invisible to Dolphin but Nautilus running with KDE 4 has no problems.

I wasn't in a position to say if it was all CDs as I only have audio CDs; I only use DVDs for data.
Anyway it is nice to know that someone else has encountered the same problem and it's not just me.

I have modified the thread title.

i get nothing when i put in an audio cd retail or one i burned.
and i can also confirm that a data cd functions correctly.
i can't seam to find a way at least in system settings to change that...
would have to prolly say it is this issue

I just tried an old game on a CD and that works perfectly so it is definitely confined to audio CDs.

Yes, I have the same problem. I thought I might try out Kubuntu audio with a music CD. I kept getting a "no audio CD" error.

                          Hi All
I just wanted to add to this . I think that this a KDE 4.2 issue as the same thing happens on a machine that I have running Mandriva KDE 4.2 . Blank DVD and CD's dont show either, CD's with data do, but not music

It's no big deal as I can use Nautilus which does work. No doubt it will get fixed eventually.
