I was trying to add applets to my menu bar (or task bar- at the bottom). Somehow, It dissappeared. I have tried to get it back by clicking alot and finally getting a menu that offered to add panel. The panel was added to the top. This should be simple. Do I have to re-install to get it back? If I right click several times on the blank brown bar at the bottom, I get the application menu. Any ideas?

Re: lost task bar - menu bar

Here's a quick way to get your desktop back to the default settings. At the command line type the following:

If something still doesn't seem right you can follow these instructions but add the following command as the 3rd step:Code:kquitapp plasma rm ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc plasma &

 Code:rm ~/.kde4/share/config/plasmarc
 - Top
- Bottom
