System Crash on Video Play & GUI Crash Randomly! [Solved]

I've upgraded my laptop from 8.04 to 8.10.

I had my 1st crash when I started a video in VLC, Kaffine crashes as well.
This crash would hang the system for sure. (LCD screen keeps going ON/OFF with nothing displayed)
Am not sure if this is so called kernel panic, but even "raising skinny elephants..." doesn't work!
Only solution is the power button.

GUI crashing appears to happen randomly, one crash happened when I was trying to change the konsole theme (Just clicked the Settings button) & the window opening got some scrambled colors & it restarted the GUI. (As if I've pressed "Ctrl + Alt + Backspace")

Another crash is by it self, I left the computer for a while & I noticed that the opened konsole window turning non-transparent & then it crashes. (Restarts GUI)

When crashing, no bug report is generated & I have no way to re produce it.
The reproducible crash is when playing videos.

My computer is Dell Latitude D505

VGA: Intel Extreme Graphics 855 GM.
Not sure if it has to do with VGA but am listing it anyway.

Even if I wanted to submit the bug, I have no idea what to write!

I can say with confidence that my laptop is not reliable for use right now & might crash at any moment.

    Any suggestions would be great.

BTW, I've tried running Ubuntu Live CD, I didn't get any serious crash. But Totem video player crashed once while playing a video.

Re: System Crash on Video Play & GUI Crash Randomly!

Few hours ago, I've disabled Desktop Effects (Were enabled by default), & kept my computer running.
Disabling it has prevented GUI crash till the moment.

    Probably Kwin problem.
System -> System Settings -> Desktop -> Desktop Effects -> Enable desktop effects. "Un-tick"

So it's for sure a software bug (KDE Windows manager for sure).
Surprisingly though, after disabling KDE's desktop effects I've enabled Compiz & it is working OK with no noticeable trouble till now.

As for the video, it's shocking to know that it's working as well after disabling KDE's desktop effects!
Compiz still running though & is not causing any trouble with the video.
