Login Effect has no effect

If you go system settings | splash screen and test the login splash, you will see it has a "transition effect" at the end.

However, in the actual login screen, the effect is not there.

I have an archlinux with KDE4.1 installed and the effect is there I like it very much, so it seems to be a kubuntu intrepid issue?

It shows the transition effect on my system during the actual login.

Could it be that your system is too busy loading/starting services during the actual login to show the effects?
