Connecting WPA wireless while KDM startup

I am using Kubuntu more than one year.
Before a month I bought a wireless modem for my home.
Also bought a Edimax wireless card for my desktop at home.
    I have no connection problem.
    Problem is:
Wireless is connectig later than expected.
I have weather widget on desktop and i also leave Firefox and Thunderbird open while shutdown so the come on with boot.
After I enter my password desktop comes on Thunderbird Firefox and weather widget loads but there is no internet connection at this moment. After a short while wireless connects but too late for these 3 programs.
So errors messages from these programs and weather widget is blank. After connection I have to close either close Firefox or refresh all tabs to make them load correctly. Can not connect to server popups from thunderbird.
For weather widget even I use right click update now option I have to wait 30 min (update interval) to weather report comes on screen.
So I need connection should come alive before or as soon as KDM starts.

    Thanks for any help.

You might want to look at
    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3102669.0
or search in this forum for wicd. The answer to your problem is

    sudo aptitude install wicd

which will remove network-manager and install wicd. Configure it and it will start before KDE starts and solve your problem.

Re: Connecting WPA wireless while KDM startup

The removal of network-manager-kde and network-manager are exactly what I would expect and they are appropriate.

Those packages followed by u (eg amarok-mysql-data{u}) are being removed for upgrading, which indicates to me that your system is not, in fact, totally up to date. If you run
        sudo aptitude -f full-upgrade
it will probably do those and then the installation of wicd will only remove network-manager variants.

@Mando Thank You for all the help.
          I did what you said.
          Wicd is working great.
Why KDE guys dont think about a wireless tool like this .

I am happy now thats it.
