    Knetworkmanager no longer works

I have an Inspiron 1501 with a Dell 1490(Broadcom) wireless card. It worked flawlessly until a few weeks ago. Now it rarely works. knetworkmanager always starts but it never finds my WAP. I know the card is good because I dual boot with XP and it works fine there.

There are quite a few posts here about kwfimanager no working. I wonder if some updates killed it recently. I have the broadcom restricted drivers activated. Perhaps I got burned on that. madwifi is only for the atheros chip I believe so I may be out of luck.
Anyone else have wifi working with a broadcom chip?
