Wireless connection freezes

My wireless connection has a habit of freezing up on me, which is somewhat annoying when I want to download anything of any size. While I would suspect my router as it has a habit of dying on me, I am not compltel certain that this is the case as I all I need to do is restart the connection in order to solve this problem, while when the router goes, I must restart the router. Anyone have any clue what is going on?

btw, the chipset in my wireless card is the rt8187b

Well, I have discovered that this appears to be due to some incompatibility with firefox...so does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
