    [Solved] Signal11 (SIGSEGV)......

After yesterdays update from II pre-alpha I was getting the 4.0..98 packages and am now getting these two errors:
    1) Error Cannot open theme file@@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase&&&

    solved here:
    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...seen#msg139179

    2) Fatal error..plasmaworkspace crashed causing Signal11..........

Click on close just gives a grey screen. I can start apps with alt+F2 but what use is that?

This happens in user and recovery modes.

    Renaming .kde / .kde4 doesn't help either.

    Anyone else see this behavior?

    Update:
installed a new install of II alpha2 in a different partition and using a new user.

    Did the :
    Theme=/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/oxygen

but am still getting the Fatal plasma error in both user login and recovery mode

    Me too

It could be: Plasma RC1 don't understand plasmoids from the beta 2. => crash.

or it could be something else .

K Menu (and other plasmoids): plasmoidviewer launcher

Me three. At least I'm in good company.

I have to go to work now, but will try to figure it out when I get home - if there aren't already new packages out that fix it by then.

        Not alone

Anyway I just posted a response on:
        http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...9182#msg139182

        Quote:
Yes, I got those packages last night but am having a few issues:
        http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...9181#msg139181

        Edit:
I just updated the debian kde4 installation (as described above) to 4.0.98 and get the theme=......issue which was easily fixed:
        http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...seen#msg139179

        No Fatal plasma error
So my guess is this is a kubuntu issue.
Now having read rog I think there could be something to that because my Debian kde4 uses extragear-plasma and kdebase-plasma bot ont kdeplasmoids where by II uses kdeplasma-base and kdeplasmoids only hmm...

        Edit:
I just had a look at the versions:
        Intrepid:
        kdebase-plasa version 4.0.83
        kdeplasmoids version 4.0.83

        Debian KDE4:
        kdebase-plasma version 4.0.98
        kdeplasmoids version 4.0.84-1

        Some more hmmmmm.....

          It was something else. After
          Upgraded the following packages:
          kde-window-manager (4:4.0.98-0ubuntu1) to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu2
          kdebase-workspace-bin (4:4.0.98-0ubuntu1) to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu2
          kdebase-workspace-data (4:4.0.98-0ubuntu1) to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu2
          kdebase-workspace-libs4+5 (4:4.0.98-0ubuntu1) to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu2
          kdm (4:4.0.98-0ubuntu1) to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu2
          libplasma2 (4:4.0.98-0ubuntu1) to 4:4.0.98-0ubuntu2
          ...
          Plasma is up and running
