I went into System Settings -> Look & Feel -> Appearance -> Icons and changed from Crystal SVG to Gnome. Now the desktop icons no longer show thumbnails. When I go back to Crystal SVG is doesn't anymore either. How do I get the desktop thumbnails back?

Personally, I'd go to the "Icons>Advanced" page and fool around there. -

Thanks for answering! Yes, I looked around in advanced too. However, I should have posted here yesterday, because the thumbnails came back! I did not reboot, I did not do anything more since I posted, and the next day they were back. Perhaps there is a way to do it deliberately, but I think there is some kind of cron job running. Could there be any other explanation?
Anyway, all is well here and thanks again for taking the time to answer.
