    krita can't open photoshop files

Koffice/Krita is supposed to be compiled with graphicsMagick, which enables it to open and save photoshop files. Kubuntu 8.04.1 doesn't have this support compiled in.

I filed this as a kde bug and was (correctly) told:

This bug is a packaging issue concerning KUbuntu and should be reported to them (their main reason for not having the GraphicsMagick filter is that GraphicsMagick is in Universe while Krita is in Main, but I don't see why the GraphicsMagick filter couldn't be splited and be shipped in Universe with Krita still be in main, but yet, it is still a KUbuntu problem).

I opened a bug on launchpad for Ubuntu/Kubuntu ( Bug #290027) for this but heard nothing.

So how would I get psd support in krita short of recompiling it myself?
