    bouml

    Hello,

On the ubuntu package site it says that bouml is at version 4.4
    http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?su...keywords=bouml

But when I apt-get bouml I get version 3.3.4. Is there difference between ubuntu and kubuntu packages for this software? If so how can I apt-get the latest version of bouml?

    Re: bouml

This post is under 8.04 "Hardy", and the linked page says

hardy (devel): UML2 tool box to specify and generate code [universe]
    3.3.4-1: amd64 i386
    I don't think Hardy repos have 4.1.

What does intrepid mean then because they have the right version?

And what is think is very strange is that debian already has the 4.4 package. I always thought that ubuntu/kubuntu was faster to release new software in their packages.

Intrepid Ibex = *buntu 8.10, due for release later this month.

        # intrepid (devel): UML2 tool box to specify and generate code [universe]
        4.4-1: amd64 i386
When you say "Debian", there are really 3 "branches" or as they say "releases" -- "Etch" = Stable, "Lenny"=Testing, "Sid"=Unstable:

        http://www.debian.org/releases/

So, the newest (and least tested) packages go into Sid. I'm not sure where *buntu packages come from in the Debian releases, but I don't think they are normally at the level of Sid.

I do run sidux as my second OS -- it is a reasonable way to run Sid:

        http://sidux.com/index.html

I'm away from my system at the moment, so I can't check on the bouml version that is in my sidux repos, but it is probably your 4.4-1.

          Re: bouml

          Hi,

currently Ubuntu and Debian take time to package Bouml

to have Bouml under Ubuntu you have two other choices : to compile it yourself (of course), or to use the packages made very quickly by Stéphane GALLAND available on http://www.arakhne.org/bouml/ (this link is also available on the page http://bouml.free.fr/download.html#Ubuntu)

          best regards and happy modeling
