KDE 4.1.1 Date & Time settings freeze

I'm having trouble with KDE 4.1.1. I recently decided to use it permanently since the recent gtk-qt-engine update resulted in Firefox 3 no longer getting the proper icons from KDE 3 or 4 (in fact, the GTK settings are completely missing in the Appearance settings in KDE3 now). But that's another issue.

Going through the KDE4 system settings, I'm having trouble with the Date & Time menu. If I make any change, and hit Apply, it freezes. If it asks for my password, it will freeze right after I enter it. I have trouble with my clock going a little fast, even with the "Set Time Automatically" set in KDE3, so I often go in and have it read from the time servers to reset the clock. But even a small change like changing the time zone from Detroit to New York (both EST) causes it to freeze.

Is there a solution, or is this just a bug?
