hal-info update breaks suspend to RAM

    Hi there,

I installed Kubuntu 8.04 on my Acer Extensa 2902LMI laptop (probably aka TravelMate 292). Everything just worked fine. I use KDE 4, but installed kpowersave to manage battery events (and suspend when closing the lid). This, too, worked fine.

Recently, I upgraded hal-info - as suggested by aptitude - from 20080317+git20080318 to 20080508+git20080601. After a reboot, suspend to RAM did not work anymore. Or, to be more precise, the resume did not work anymore. It seems that the backlight is not turned on again after resuming (I do not have an external monitor to try whether or not the laptop is usable - trying to log in via textmode console did not work).

After downgrading back to the "original" hal-info version, suspend to RAM works again...

Is this a know bug? Can I somehow help to find out more about this? ...?

    Any comments will be appreciated.

    Take care,

    fgrassmann
