    Add KDM session type

    Hi.

I am trying to add a menu entry under session type that will start X with a different xorg.conf file. However, I can not figure out how to add menu entries. I google this and found people saying to put a .desktop file in /usr/share/xsessions/. However, nothing I add there works. I noticed there is one file in there already called kde.desktop. This file though, only contains the entry to start KDE; there is no failsafe entry. So kdm is pulling the session type from another place I can not find.

So how do I add an entry to the kdm session type menu?

I am running Hardy, fully updated.

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm not sure how much this How-To will help, but it's the best thing I found. The significant point is that (as you surmised) you have to generate two files, not one. At least, you now have their names.
