    sound problem

I just upgraded to hardy, and the first that I noticed was that there was no sound. So I went to System settings and enabled 'the sound system'. Atm I do have sound, but it's only very silent. When I play a song with amarok/mplayer I can adjust the volume a bit with the volume-bar. But changing the volume with Kmix has absolutely no effect :s

    my configuration options :
    I checked "Enable Sound System"
    "Enable network sound" is unchecked.
"Run with highest possible priority" checked.
"sound buffer" slider set in the middle
"autosuspend" time set to 60 sec.
    hardware tab set to "autodetect".

"User Management">Groups listed as a member of the audio group

asoundconf list gives me this output
    Names of available sound cards:
    Intel

    tnx
btw, sound worked fine in gutsy

    Re: sound problem

I have the same problem - sound is very week, and there is more of a hiss then actual sound (mp3 etc.) . i tried all the ALSA configurations and problem solving and still the same problem. the same hardware worked with 7.10 perfectly until i did a clean install of 8.04.

    any solution ?

the problem is probably related with this bug:

        Re: sound problem

I tried "sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils reset" as suggested on http://kubasik.net/blog/2008/03/31/s...-ubuntu-hardy/ and I now have sound. I have integrated SoundMAX ADI AD1986A 5.1 channel CODEC on an Asus M2NBP mobo
