Errors during update - language packages

I just did the latest update on alpha3 [do the updates provide the equivalent of the next alpha release? I am not sure how that works....]

It stopped with an error.

I did dpkg --configure -a and got some errors:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of language-support-writing-en:
language-support-writing-en depends on openoffice.org-hyphenation-en-us; however:
Package openoffice.org-hyphenation-en-us is not installed.
dpkg: error processing language-support-writing-en (--configure):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

When I installed alpha 3, I said "English" and it seemed to be all there before, so I don't know why it is now not installed.

Then other errors:

A few days ago, the update finished successfully, but left 2 packages not updated - firefox and a language entry. I noticed it was firefox 3, so I was a bit interested to see how it would install. But when I clicked the upgrade button, it came back with a "remove" on the english language item. I didn't want to uninstall that, so I canceled the changes.

It seems now I have upgraded to firefox 3, and the language change was made at some point.

Is there a way to get this fixed?

0 mis à jour, 1 nouvellement installés, 0 à enlever et 0 non mis à jour.
60 partiellement installés ou enlevés.
Il est nécessaire de prendre 0o/32,5ko dans les archives.
Après cette opération, 127ko d'espace disque supplémentaires seront utilisés.
(Lecture de la base de données... 177794 fichiers et répertoires déjà installés.)
Dépaquetage de openoffice.org-hyphenation-en-us (à partir de .../openoffice.org-hyphenation-en-us_2.3-5_all.deb) ...

This may be related to the firefox problem - firefox-2.0 was removed completely from adept, and superceded with firefox-3.0, so all of the language modules that were included with firefox 2 may have been wiped out.

Not sure how that happened.

It seems firefox 3 is the default browser now, even though it is still in a rough beta.

I am not sure of the timeline for firefox 3, but I found some places on the web that have a "March or April 2008" date, and I wonder if that is enough time to make sure it works before HH gets released.

I don't know where you are, but I have been successful after

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install

sudo apt-get autoremove

and then use Adept Manager to install the new Firefox 3.

Then

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

and restart the X server (or reboot your system).

FF3 is working pretty well at this time -- flash works and it picked up all the prior bookmarks.

That sounded like a really good option - so I tried it.

I got errors with just "apt-get install", so i used the "apt-get install -f" suggested by apt-get.

here is how it went:

So, following the suggested "autoremove", I got the following:

Since I don't quite know what is going on here, I just downloaded alpha4 and will do a clean install of that.

I was running a clean install of alpha3 previously and did all of the updates until firefox3 and the language issue happened. Maybe alpha4 will work better...

I began with HH Alpha 4, but if you began with Alpha 3 and have done the

sudo apt-get update

and

sudo apt-get upgrade

you should have all packages up to the present date.

@starbetrayer, I see the open office hyphenation package problem.
