    Libpython2.5.so missing

Hardy works just fine on my machine. One of the few problems is that I cannot adjust the Display and monitor settings. Error message says that libpython2.5.so is missing.

Found some other similar libpython packages in the OS. But neither Adept nor synaptic produce the wanted libpython2.5.so.

Libpython2.5.so found on the Net or rpm packages. I could use Alien to convert but would prefer a Debian package.

Does anyone know where to find it, please?

    Package: python2.5-dev (2.5.1-5ubuntu5)
Header files and a static library for Python (v2.5)

Header files, a static library and development tools for building Python (v2.5) modules,

        Re: Libpython2.5.so missing

Thank you all for the input. Installed the python files mentioned in your posts. No change.

        Error message:
The module Monitor and Display could not be loaded.

        Possible reason given:

        An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphan;
You have old third party modules lying around.

Removed orphans with command line work.
        No change.

Not sure about old third party modules. NVIDIA?

I had the same or similar problems with testing gutsy. I think these things will be fixed with time. We are still in alpha. Having said that I find the monitor mostly useless

Alpha RC 2 works just fine for me. I am not too much bothered by the inability to adjust monitor settings at this time.

Everything is quite small in almost all applications. that is the reason I wanted to adjust hte display settings. No big deal. I agree, it will get fixed in due time.
