Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz - should i install kubuntu 64 bit?

i have a hp pavillion dv6000
it says on a sticker intel centrino duo.
so which one i have to install?

All core 2 duo and core 2 quad processors are 64bit. so centrino duo should also be 64 bit processor. i have a core 2 quad Q6600 and have installed 64bit kubuntu 8.10

& it's better with the 64 bit version?
its better enough to go through the work of downloading and installing again?
i get to keep my configuration is i decide to do it?
