Why not unify this system at last!!! like KMix, simple and easy readable

I understand, it's not only Kubuntu problem,
    But Kubuntu must be first

    Re: unify sound controls

I hope someone can back this up, but I think the new KDE4 feature, PULSE will help unify sound control among other things.

It would be nice to see some of that in KDE3.

I've noticed that anytime I install Kubuntu on a system that has SPDIF output, it defaults to that being ON and I have to use alsamix to turn it off, THEN I get sound through the speakers. Strike that, KMIX has a TAB for SWITCHES that I can use to turn off the Analog/Digital Output. Nice, that's easier.
