    Wireless problems

    hi everyone
ive just installed kubuntu on my laptop (HP EF5060), my problem is i cant get connected to my wireless network, i was looking for some solutions and i was asked to find the reference of my wireless card and download the driver that should be .inf but in http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3462046 i could just find the .exe, it has to be installed with ndiswrapper.
im very new to linux so please gimme some easy peasy answers.

    Re: Wireless problems

I usually only answer questions about wireless connections that contain "I have searched the forum for an answer and...." but i in your case I would suggest you start here, and if that doesn't work, then do the search.

Welcome aboard! Hope my message doesn't come across in the wrong way, but just about every wireless question possible has already been addressed somewhere in this forum, and as a general rule, it is considered proper to search the forum for answers before posting a question that has already been answered many times.

      Re: Wireless problems

      1) You have said that your computer is an HP EF5060, but you lead to a site for an HP G5060EF Notebook PC. It might be a small difference, but it does make a difference to Googling for an answer.

      2) If we take it that it is an HP G5060EF Notebook PC and you go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...462046&lang=en there are two different wireless drivers listed - Intel and Broadcom. Do you know which you have? If you don't then open a terminal and input:
      lspci
This will list (ls) all of the pci devices. Somewhere it will say Network Controller xxxx. What does it say?

      3) I think that present experience shows that Windows XP drivers are better than Windows Vista Drivers in ndiswrapper.
