losing wired internet connection: Realtek LAN driver issue?

    Hello,
Just recently, I'm constantly losing my wired internet connection. At first, I couldn't fully diagnose the problem. I suspected a problematic ISP, router etc. etc. But, I now have a theory that it's due to the LAN driver. In other words, I thought that the r8169 driver/module (?) is getting loaded instead of the r8168 driver. This just happens? It's not happening all the time? The issue is confusing, imho.

The motherboard is a GA-EP35-DS3R and has the following LAN chipset:
    Realtek RTL8168B/8111B PCI-E Gagabit Ethernet

On the Realtek website, the newest version for the driver is:
    Version 8.009.00
    r8168-8.009.00.tar.bz2

I don't know what is getting loaded at the moment (I'm not on my 'Linux' computer for this post). But, if a r8169 module was somehow getting loaded over the r8168 driver at times, it could explain part of it? I just don't know why I lose the connection at various times but it happens often.

I read this 'bug' article that gave me the theory:
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/141343

It seems like a recent issue to me but I might have wrote off previous disconnections as a blip with the router or ISP problems. I just know if I boot up in my Windows XP partition, my wired connection is fine. :-/
