    Kubuntu - Windows network connection

    Hi,

I'm new to the Kubuntu to windows network connection, I'm trying to get information from a windows machine over to a Kubuntu machine with a crossover cable.

Can some one advice me on this or point me to a write up that can help me?

Re: Kubuntu - Windows network connection

    Hi,

This guide isn't truly step by step but it may help

    Windows machine
    1. You need to create a share on the Windows machine
    2. make sure the firewall will allow the connection through.
    3. Make sure you have an account on the Windows machine with a username and password. I don't think you can use an account with no password.
    4. Set a hard coded IP address and subnet mask eg. 10.0.0.10 255.255.255.0

    On the linux machine
    1. Set a hard coded IP address and subnet maske eg. 10.0.0.20 255.255.255.0
    2. Open up dolphin with the path showing and type smb://10.0.0.10
    3. You will be prompted with a username and password prompt, enter the details
