ndiswrapper stops finding netowrks after first reboot post install

    Binary package hint: ndiswrapper-common

    1. I'm using Kubuntu 8.04.1
    2. I'm using ndiswrapper-common-1.50.1ubuntu1
    3. After following the Ubuntu ndiswrapper docs, I expect wireless networking to continue working after the first reboot post-install
    4. I am unable to scan for networks, though i have a wlan0 interface, ndiswrapper module is loaded, and the configuration files exist in /etc/ndiswrapper

I have successfully replicated this bug on every Asus P5B-VM based system I have using TEW-423PI NIC (r8185 chipset)

The only way I have been able to get wireless working again has been by uninstalling the driver, rebooting, and reinstalling the driver. It will then work again, until the subsequent reboot.

I have also installed form source, as per Ubuntu NDISWrapper docs, but the problem persists.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Install Kubuntu 8.4.1 on Asus P5B-VM motherboard.
    2. Install ndiswrapper
    3. Install windows driver in NDIS wrapper program (wireless works!)
    4. Reboot computer
    5. Unable to scan for networks.

The only way I have successfully gotten the wireless working again after the first reboot has been by uninstalling the Windows driver, rebooting, and then reinstalling the Windows driver. It will work until next reboot.

I have successfully replicated this bug on every Asus P5B-VM based system I have using TEW-423PI NIC (r8185 chipset)

    What does
    Code:
    ndiswrapper -l
    show? And what does
    Code:
    lspci -v
    show?
The next brick house on the left
