    BCM4306 Setup Problem

I posted this problem over at the Ubuntu forums; My Post, since the tutorial was posted there but I've no luck so far. I am posting here now... see what happens.

I am attempting to use http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=201902&highlight=broadcom+4306+wi reless+feisty&page=81"]Broadcom 4306 With Ndiswrapper 54 Mbps[/URL] but I can not get past the 'build-essentials' step. While running the command 'sudo aptitude install build-essential' I receive the error 'Couldn't find any package whose name or description matched "build-essential"' and it finishes with 'No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed.'

    Thanks!

    Re: BCM4306 Setup Problem

    I'm having the same problem.

I tried build-essential(s) from the 8.04 64 bit CD and it comes up with a similar error message, so it appears it's not on the CD.

Since I can't get online with my unit at this time, I'd like to know where I can download and thumbdrive it over to my laptop

      Re: BCM4306 Setup Problem

      UPDATE:

To get the build-essential installed, I had to create a repository on my hard drive, and pull files in via USB key to this directoy and do the install. Pain in the but, but it worked.
