    KDE 3.5.10 to KDE 4.2

    Hi everyone,

I have kubuntu hardy heron 8.04 and KDE 3.5.10.
Is it possible to change the KDE version into KDE 4.2?
Is there any risk for the data on my disks?

    Thanks
    Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 <br />VAIO VGN-FS415M

The easiest (and safest) way to upgrade is to follow these instructions from the Ubuntu Community Help Wiki. That said, there is always a chance of losing your personal stuff and settings when you upgrade, so BACKUP to an outside medium. If you don't have a removable medium drive, send yourself one or more emails with your entire /home/{your name}/ directory tree. That way, if the system crashes, you will still have your "stuff" even if you lose the settings in the /etc/ tree.
