I apologize in advance if the solution to my problem is already well documented. I have looked around and seen many accounts similar to mine, but I am reluctant to change things I don't know about if the problem isn't exactly my own.
Installed from Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4
-I have successfully installed this on my machine previously. But I formatted the root drive and reinstalled to make my /home a separate partition, it was previously displayed as a separate drive. My home folder has not been formatted for several OS changes, if that might be relevant.
-The log in screen displays perfectly, but once I log in the screen goes black, save for a white rectangle in the middle which replaces the "loading animation". Also my mouse is visible and seems to work well. When I drag it to the upper left corner the words RSS Agregator appear in the middle, I think it is an attempt at the "present windows" effect.
-I dual boot with Windows Vista. I use a NVidia 8800GTS graphics card.
What other information might be useful?
