Kubuntu 8.04.1 No DVD & Few Install Options?

When I downloaded 8.04.1, I noticed that there wasn't a DVD choice listed as there
    was with 8.04 via torrents.

Also, when I install 8.04.1, I find that there are very few install options presented and
those that are presented are the very basics to getting the system installed; i.e., setting
location, setting partition, etc., just 6 option pages before the install starts. Root is not
even configured at setup. Did I miss something when first initiating the install? And,
the option to install KDE 4.1 isn't presented... is it installed or is another version of KDE
    installed by default?

    Thanks!

You can choose between different versions, the alternate version gives more options:

Ubuntu does not use the root account, it can be set up but most will advise against it as it serves no purpose for the average user.
Instead you precede commands that require root privileges with 'sudo'.
The advantage is that the root privilege is now only available for the single command thus giving less exposure.
And, the option to install KDE 4.1 isn't presented... is it installed or is another version of KDE

I don't know as I did the install with the 3.5.9. desktop.
It doesn't matter very much, you can always install 4.1 at a later stage.
Please note that 4.1 is a work in progress, it is usable for basic functions but certainly not ready for the real world.
