I had the 8.04 beta. Does it automatically update to the latest release and get updates or do I have to download the release and install it? Normally i see updates every other day or so and I have not seen any for like 2 weeks.

No. If you've been updating as they come across, then you are running the 'final' current release. Now that HH isn't a Beta anymore, the frequency of updates is less than it was previously. You're fine, and there is no need to download HH and reinstall.Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
