Update problem

I got this when doing apt-get update :

Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_hardy_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Is it easy to fix ?

You could check if your /etc/apt/sources.list contains some invalid characters or invalid sources.
Most likely those would be external sources such as wine or awn.
Open it with something like Kate in Superuser mode.

Try to comment out some lines (put # in front of them) and try again. You should not do this with those of the ubuntu repositories.
A user had the same problem with a source pointing to his local hdd.
