kubuntu don't detect my nvidia card

    hi

    i installed kubuntu 8.0.4 64 bits on a hp z600 machine.
this pc have nvidia quattro FX 380

in the install/remove software, i installed: nvidia binary X.org Driver and nvidia Xserver setting

i rebooted the machine and the nvidia driver don't seem to be running.
    i started nvidia-settings and i get:
You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver.
Please edit your X configuration file (just run 'nvidia-xonfig' as root). and restart the x server.
i runed this command (console mode, init 1, after init 3) without success

    xorg.conf
    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
    Driver "kbd"
    Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
    Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
    Option "XkbLayout" "ca"
    Option "XkbOptions" "lv3:ralt_switch"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier "Configured Mouse"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "CorePointer"
    EndSection

    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Configured Video Device"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Configured Monitor"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Default Screen"
    Monitor "Configured Monitor"
    Device "Configured Video Device"
    EndSection

    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "Default Layout"
    Screen "Default Screen"
    EndSection

I'm not sure why you chose a two-year old version of Kubuntu to install. :P

However, check here for the right driver version for the quadro FX 380:

    And this might help too:
