Sound Card - Mixer not Found

I have an Sis Motherboard with an on board sound card.

When selecting the 2.6.24-16 shell using Grub, sound works fine.
Since Hardy has been released there have been two further shell releases - I'm not up to 2.6.24-18 and sound has been broken since 2.6.24-17.

It would appear that this is a bug as its working on one version and not on another (later) version.

I've tried the very helpful "Comprehensive Sound Problem Solutions Guide" at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=205449
but get lost looking for the Sis Card.

one needs to poke around a bit to get the HTML page with all the sound card manufacturers listed.

Any Ideas or should I do the Launchpad thing?

Re: Sound Card - Mixer not Found

Sorry for the delayed response. Sound is one of those things that are hard to get (and keep) going in Linux because there are a number of sound card manufacturers and few standards. The standard reference for this area is Basic Sound Card Hardware Debugging. It's old, but the basics haven't changed.
